Y OPAS is a community effort offering FREE support services for the seniors of Ahwatukee and their caregivers. Services are provided by community volunteers the generous neighbors of Ahwatukee. Our objective is to meet the needs of the growing senior population in Ahwatukee with the goal of enabling our seniors to maintain independent living in their own homes. Transportation
Volunteer will escort senior to and from a medical or other appointment as well as to the pharmacy after the appointment if needed.

Shopping & Errands
Volunteer can either shop with or for the senior and can take senior to do personal errands such as going to the bank and hair appointment.

Friendly Visitors
Friendly and concerned volunteer will visit the senior once a week for about an hour.

Friendly Phoning
Volunteer will call senior several times per week to check on their welfare as well as to build a one-on-one caring relationship with them.

Caregiver Relief
Once a week a volunteer will provide respite time away to the primary full-time caregiver while providing companionship and a safe environment for the senior.

Household Assistance
Volunteer will provide assistance in areas such as changing light bulbs and air filters adding salt to water softeners etc.

Business Help
Volunteer will assist the senior in managing business and financial concerns as well as personal correspondence through one-on-one assistance at the seniors home.

Senior Community Wellness Program
Extra support and case management when senior is discharged from the hospital or rehab.

Social Activities
To prevent isolation Y OPAS has social activities once or twice a month for our seniors.

Information & Referral
Y OPAS offers information and referrals to other agencies or individuals as needed.
